Riverside on the Potomac Wedding
This beautiful Riverside on the Potomac wedding story took place on a warm June day. Family and friends were moved to tears throughout the day as they lovingly and joyously witnessed their union. Mary and Khalil are genuine, loving and family oriented people and it was easy to get swept up in the contagious emotion and depth of their day. This Riverside on the Potomac wedding was the epitome of elegance with the sweeping hills and classic Virginia farm landscape.
They first met at Clare and Don’s in Falls Church, VA while celebrating a mutual friend’s accomplishment for walking the Susan G Komen 3-day race. Their 1st date was brunch at Circa in Foggy Bottom, DC and Khalil proposed at their favorite restaurant Montmartre, in Capitol Hill.
“We wanted a place that would be a little different and where we could make all the decisions, from decor to how to stock the bar, so it would feel more like us. We also wanted a venue with beautiful views and an outdoor setting for our ceremony. We loved the indoor/outdoor aspect of the barn and we were hoping that the weather would be nice enough to open the gate doors to the beautiful sunset. We were thrilled that we were able to do that on the day!”

“So many!! When they opened the doors to the barn to announce us – hearing the dramatic music, getting to see the beautiful venue all dressed up for the first time, knowing that all these people we love were here for us, and the realization that this day we have been imagining was actually here and happening – it was so emotional! Khalil took me aside during the reception so we could have a moment to take it all in. We stood there together watching all of our friends and family having a great time on the dance floor. I am so happy he thought to do this – it was a moment I will always remember!”

“It was when I saw you poke your head out of the door of the main house before the ceremony. And I started crying.”
